A friend said to me one day … “I wish I had a big tall painting of beautiful blue delphiniums for my bedroom in the country. I can even see it in my mind. And I’ve got a spot in mind for it. You see, my grandmother had the most incredible delphiniums in her garden … and I love delphiniums.”
Knowing my style, she described the painting she had in mind … it was beautiful, and full of only delphiniums. I assured her I could do it. I asked her to send me a picture of the room with the blank wall. Together we came up with the best size and proportion for the painting. I did a very rough pencil sketch, and then a colour marker drawing to fine tune the vision a little further … and we were on our way! Here’s a peek at that process, and a picture of it installed in the room it was painted for:

If you or someone you know has a vision for a painting,
I’d love to hear about it.
